Does Your Business Need a Website Blog article

Does Your Business Need a Website?

Does your business need a website? Now that is an interesting question and before I give you a definitive answer let’s take a look at some facts.

According to statistics the number of internet users worldwide in 2019 was 3.97 billion, up from 3.74 billion in the previous year. With Covid you can imagine this number has gone up even further!

Social networking still continues to be one of the most popular online activities and continues to rise. Let’s take a look at Facebook, as an example, as it continues to be the biggest social network platform worldwide. In the second quarter of 2021 Facebook had 2.89 billion monthly active users. And according to Facebook, 3.51 billion people were using, at least, one of the company’s core products such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger.

Now thinking of the numbers above, imagine if you had a website for your business, connected it to one of those social media platforms and you had a product or service that anyone around the globe could benefit from – look at the number of potential clients or customers you could reach!

Covid changed the business landscape

As you are well aware, due to Covid, the way businesses operated had to change significantly if they wanted to survive. Many without an online presence and unable to trade in person closed down. While others found a way to pivot and offer services online for the first time allowing them to survive these turbulent times.

Learning to adapt and be creative online was essential for the survival of most businesses.

And of course to operate online you need to have an online presence!

To have a solid online digital presence in this modern world you need a website.

Just think of the action you take when you are interested in a particular product or business. Like most people you will type your product into Google and hope a dedicated website pops up so you can delve deep into your search and learn more about it.

Consider when you are surfing social media, according to studies the second most common action someone takes after finding you on social media is to go to your website to learn more.

So if you didn’t have a website you would be missing out on connecting to your ideal client. By looking for your website on social media it shows they like what they have seen and want to know more and in the digital space, that is GOLD.

In addition, you have less than 5 seconds to grab someone’s online attention before they move on. So give them what they want, more info about your services and how you can best help them.

Imagine what having your own successful online business could do to your life, your family’s lives?

There are so many benefits to having a website, even if it is just as a hobby. If you are already in a full time job and the thought of building a business sounds too much, create a blog, start small.

Now I’m not saying that a blog is a small business, because there are loads of successful entrepreneurs out there who have created over 6 figure businesses just with their blog. So not only can you monetize your blog to start earning some cash on the side, it can serve as a creative outlet. You can use it to start networking with like minded individuals thus creating a contact list or email list that is the secret sauce to any online business!

In addition, if you have any helpful tips or information that you know could benefit someone, having a blog is a great way to get your message across to a wide audience, helping other people with that amazing knowledge you possess. And writing can be very cathartic and who doesn’t need some feel good emotions as we try to get some normality in our lives post Covid.

But what if your business is brick and mortar?

But what if you own a shop on the high street and don’t need or want to trade online? Studies show that having an online presence can actually drive local traffic to your business. How so?

For instance by using Google My Business  you can provide a brief description of what you sell, hours of operation and where people can find you. Having a Facebook business page can provide you with more space to broadcast what you do. And of course a website will provide you with all the space and tools you need to strategically drive your traffic to your store. Then by implementing SEO you can take advantage of free organic traffic to your online site which will then drive traffic to your local one. So if the above sounds like you, you don’t need a very big or fancy website, just a one page website that explains who you are, what you do, where you are located and how you can help is all you really need. And don’t worry if you are not too sure where to start looking for a one page website, I can help you with that as well.

So let’s get back to our original question, does your business need a website?

Well the numbers speak for themselves, so that’s a whole hearted yes! If you want your business to grow and be resilient so a forced lockdown couldn’t affect it, then having a website for your brilliant business is a must.

Your website tells your story, it’s where your messaging happens, where you guide your audience your way – it’s a reflection of you and your business. It’s where you can sell your products & services and share your knowledge with your audience.

You have something amazing to offer, and there are people out there right now in need of your services, don’t miss out on that opportunity to help them.
